Notifying the Public Rights under Title VI

The Chicago Water Taxi operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Any person who believes he or she has been aggrieved by any unlawful discriminatory practice under Title VI may file a complaint with the Chicago Water Taxi. FAQ

  • Seniors and Persons With Disabilities receive 50 % off one-way tickets. Active Duty Military with valid ID ride free.

  • Children ages 3 years old and younger do not need a ticket on Chicago Water Taxi.

  • Chicago Water Taxi does have limited wheelchair accessible route options that are subject to availability and must be reserved in advance. Please call 312-337-1446 to inquire about availability.

  • Yes but all luggage is subject to inspection by security personnel.

  • Tickets do not expire by date, only by use. Tickets can be used several seasons after the purchase date.

  • Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed on the water taxis. Some limited water taxi routes sell water, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages.

  • Yes the water taxis have restrooms.

  • We do not go to Navy Pier, the Michigan Avenue Stop is one mile west of Navy Pier. 

  • The water taxis oprate rain or shine

  • The water taxi season generally runs from March thorugh the end of December. Service starts mid morning on weekdays, and late mornings on weekends, and runs until mid evening. For exact departre times use the trip planner here; www.chicagowatertaxi.com 

  • One Way Tickets are $10.00 ($5.00 for seniors) and children 3 years of age and younger are free.

  • Commuter Ten Rides can be purchased via registering through the website as a commuter Here (hyperlink commuter sign up). 

  • Chicago Water Taxi Stops at Chinatown (Ping Tom Park), Michigan Ave (400 N Michigan Ave) and Ogilvie/Union (Metra Stations). 

  • Three out of four water taxis are climate controlled.
