Wendella respects the privacy of information provided by users of our websites and our customers, and is committed to protecting your privacy.  This Privacy Policy outlines the type of information we may collect and how we handle this information, including how we use it to provide better service to you.  This Privacy Policy applies to all our websites, including www.wendellaboats.com and www.chicagowatertaxi.com, and to all our services, including boat tours, cruises, private events and water taxis, and processing payments for these services.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT? 

“Personal information” is information that can be used to personally identify you.   Personal information that Wendella may collect from you directly includes, but is not limited to, your name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, telephone number, fax number, credit card information, purchase and reservation information, and other information that you voluntarily provide.  In some cases, we ask customers for information needed to ensure a safe and pleasant experience including dietary restrictions and medical conditions, such as physical disabilities.  We understand that you are trusting us with this information, and we not sell, license or give away your personal information.  Generally, we will never intentionally disclose your personal information to any third party for their use without your permission.

“General information” is information that cannot be used to personally identify you.  This may include the unique number assigned to your server or Internet connection, the capabilities and features of your computer, your geographic location, and your movement within and interaction with the web site including what pages you look at and what information you download. When you visit our websites, our computer servers collect such general information. We use this general information to generate aggregate statistics about visitors to our websites.

AUTOMATIC DATA COLLECTION

Like most websites, our websites have features that automatically collect information from customers, to deliver content specific to customers’ interests and to honor their preferences.  For example, we use “cookies,” a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the visit session. This technology uses information about your visits to our websites (not including your name, address, or other personal information), to better understand visitor and customer usage of our websites.

We also may use an email delivery service or marketing companies to send emails, including for service updates and alerts and surveys, for which you have registered or otherwise agreed to receive.  We may use cookies in these email messages to help us evaluate how customers use our websites and services.

For our internal purposes, we gather date, time, browser type, navigation history and IP address of all visitors to our websites. We use this information for our internal security audit log, trend analysis and system administration, and to gather broad information about our customer and website user base.

The information used in this process is not personally identifiable.  You are not obliged to accept a cookie from us, or any other website, and you may modify your browser so that it will not accept cookies.

ORDERING, PAYMENT AND QUOTES

For our services that require payment, we collect credit card information and personal information (such as name, account number, billing address, expiration date, telephone number and email address), which is used for our or our ticketing agent’s purposes only, and is not otherwise shared.  Our online ticketing gateway system is operated by RocketRez (www.rocket-rez.com), a leading providing of payment management services to many online tour businesses.

We also store personal information that is entered in filling out our online request for quotes for private events, including the requesting individual’s name, address, other contact information and additional information you voluntarily provide.  Although we do not currently use this information in any way, we may use it in the future to contact these individuals regarding private events and other Wendella service offerings.

NEWSLETTER, SERVICE UPDATES AND ALERTS

For our water taxi service, Chicago Water Taxi, Wendella allows people to sign up using their phone numbers and emails so that we may send emails or texts with our newsletter, and/or for water taxi service updates and alerts.  Each is an “opt-in” list, and we only send emails or texts to individuals that have subscribed to the list.  If you wish to unsubscribe from the Chicago Water Taxi list, please follow the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the email or text, or email us at taxi@wendellaboats.com.

SURVEYS

We always strive to improve our services and your experience in choosing Wendella.  We have an automated survey system that emails a survey to people who checked in on social media for a tour or cruise that day, to get their feedback regarding their experience.  We may also invite website users and customers to participate in surveys from time to time.  Participation in surveys is voluntary, and you are under no obligation to reply to any survey you might receive from us.  Should you choose to complete a survey, we will treat the information you provide with the same high standard of care as all other personal information.

We may also in the future send out email surveys to our Chicago Water Taxi and private event customers and participants who have provided an email address for to get their feedback regarding their water taxi or private event experience.

SECURITY

We use reasonable precautions to protect your information and to store it securely. Sensitive personal information that is transmitted to us online (such as credit card number) is encrypted and is transmitted to us or our payment management provider’s database securely, and is accessible only by authorized personnel.  All information we collect is stored on secure servers, which are protected by firewalls and other standard security procedures. However, no security system is impenetrable, and the security of your personal information, including sensitive information, cannot be absolutely guaranteed, and we do not assume any liability for third party use of such information, whether obtained legally or illegally from or through our websites.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our websites contain links to other websites. Wendella is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our websites and to read the privacy statements of any other website that collects personally information.

CERTAIN DISCLOSURES AND TRANSFERS

 

Wendella will disclose personal information when it believes in good faith that such disclosure is required by law (for example, in response to a court order, law enforcement or governmental request, or subpoena), or such disclosure is appropriate for your safety and security or the safety and security of Wendella, its property and employees. In the event Wendella undergoes a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your personal information may be transferred. You acknowledge and consent that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy, and that any acquirer or successor may receive and continue to use your personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
